Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 22, 2026

DermaClear ("DermaClear", "we", "us", "our") provides an automated skin analysis tool available through our website (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the rights and choices available to you. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to information collected through the DermaClear website, the skin analysis flow, and related emails and communications. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that we link to but do not control.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information, most of which you provide directly as you move through the analysis:

  • Photo: a selfie you upload for analysis, if you choose to provide one.
  • Quiz answers: age range, skin type, skin concerns, routine habits, and similar self-reported details.
  • Event details: an upcoming event and date, if you tell us you're preparing for one.
  • Contact details: your first name and email address.
  • Payment details: if you purchase a plan, our payment processor collects your name, billing address, phone number, and card information on our behalf.
  • Technical and usage data: device type, browser, approximate location derived from IP address, referring pages, and how you interact with the Service, collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies.

How We Use Your Information

  • To run your skin analysis and generate your personalized score, insights, and plan.
  • To send your results, report, and any purchased plan by email.
  • To process payment, fulfill orders, and provide customer support.
  • To personalize your experience, such as using your name or event date in your report.
  • To maintain the security and proper functioning of the Service.
  • To measure, analyze, and improve the accuracy of our analysis and the performance of our marketing.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

Legal Basis for Processing (EEA / UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your information based on: your consent (e.g., uploading a photo, accepting cookies), the necessity of processing to perform our contract with you (e.g., generating and delivering your plan), and our legitimate interests (e.g., securing the Service and improving our product), balanced against your rights.

Photo Analysis

Your photo is uploaded over an encrypted connection and processed solely to generate your skin score, insights, and personalized plan. This analysis is automated: no human reviewer looks at your photo as part of the standard flow. We do not use your photo to train any models, build a facial-recognition profile, or identify you, and we do not sell or share it with data brokers or advertisers.

Data Retention & Deletion

  • Photos: automatically deleted no later than 30 days after your scan.
  • Quiz answers and results: retained for as long as your account or report remains active, then deleted or anonymized.
  • Payment and order records: retained as required by tax, accounting, and financial regulations, typically several years.
  • Marketing and analytics data: retained per each provider's standard retention window, described in their own privacy policies.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Essential functionality: keeping the analysis flow working correctly as you move between steps.
  • Analytics: understanding how visitors use the Service so we can improve it.
  • Advertising: measuring and optimizing our marketing, including tools such as Meta Pixel and ad-click tracking platforms.
  • Session insight tools: aggregated session-recording or heatmap tools that help us spot usability issues.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; some parts of the Service may not work properly without them.

Third-Party Service Providers

We share information only as needed with vetted service providers who help us run DermaClear, including our payment and order processor, our email delivery provider, our cloud hosting provider, and our analytics and advertising platforms. Each provider is contractually restricted to using your information solely to perform its function for us, and we do not permit them to sell your information.

Payment Information

All payments are processed by our third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card number on our own servers. Purchases, refunds, and cancellations are governed by our Terms of Use.

We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. Some analytics and advertising cookies may meet the broader definition of a "sale" or "share" under certain state privacy laws (see below); you can opt out of these as described in "Your Privacy Rights."

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your personal information.
  • Receive a copy of your information in a portable format.
  • Object to, or request that we restrict, certain processing.
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your information, and out of targeted advertising.

Residents of California and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws have the rights above under those laws, and will not be discriminated against for exercising them. Residents of the EEA/UK have equivalent rights under the GDPR and may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below — we will respond within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

DermaClear is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your home country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above, and where required by law, we will provide additional notice. Continued use of DermaClear after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
